Peru Presidential Election Runoff: JNE certifies results by…?

94%electionsUpdated 1 min ago

What you need to know

This market is asking a simple timing question: will Peru's official election authority announce the final, certified winner of the June 7, 2026 presidential runoff before a specific deadline? It is not asking who wins — just whether the paperwork is signed and published on time. A Yes means the JNE issued its official proclamation by the deadline. A No means the announcement came late, or the election results were thrown out entirely and the race had to start over. The market settles Yes if Peru's JNE publishes a formal proclamation of the runoff results by 11:59 PM ET on the listed date. There is one important edge case: if the June 7 results are officially annulled or a brand-new election is scheduled before July 31, 2026, the market resolves No — even if some proclamation was issued. So a contested or overturned election is treated the same as no result at all. The JNE's own official documents are the source of truth. None of the provided news articles relate to the Peru presidential election or its certification process. No relevant recent developments were shared. The most useful things to watch for would be any JNE announcement about the proclamation timeline, legal challenges to the vote count, or any Peruvian political crisis that could delay or invalidate the process. The market has shifted dramatically — from 13% to 80% — as the deadline approached, suggesting the certification process is likely underway. At 80%, the market is leaning heavily toward Yes, so the main remaining uncertainty is simply whether something unexpected disrupts it: a legal challenge that delays or invalidates results, a political crisis, or a bureaucratic delay pushing past the deadline. The annulment clause in the rules is the sharpest edge case — Peru's 2021 election faced intense legal challenges, so that precedent exists.

How this resolves

Resolves July 28, 2026

The second round of the 2026 Peruvian presidential elections were held on June 7, 2026. This market will resolve to "Yes" if the National Jury of Elections of Peru (Jurado Nacional de Elecciones, JNE) publishes a proclamation of election results (proclamación de resultados) for the second round of the 2026 Peruvian presidential elections by the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". If the results of the second round of the 2026 Peruvian presidential elections are invalidated or annulled, or a new general election or runoff is officially scheduled by the relevant Peruvian authorities by July 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, in a manner that explicitly supersedes or replaces the June 7, 2026, election, this market will resolve to "No". Any official proclamation from the JNE which specifies the results of the second round of the 2026 Peruvian presidential elections will qualify for the purposes of this market. An example from 2021 can be found here: https://portal.jne.gob.pe/portal_documentos/files/637a2dda-73ba-4abc-95bf-294f14d454bb.pdf. The primary resolution source will be information from the Peruvian government, including the JNE.
