World Cup: Player to be in France's Starting 11
What you need to know
This market asks whether a specific French player will literally be standing on the pitch when the referee blows the whistle to start France's very first game at the 2026 World Cup. Yes means they start that game. No means anything else — dropped from the lineup, injured before kickoff, named in the starting 11 but substituted out before the match begins, or France's tournament doesn't happen at all. The three players currently listed — Maignan (goalkeeper), Mbappé, and Olise — are all established stars in the French national team. The market settles Yes only if the player is physically on the field at kickoff of France's first group stage match at the 2026 World Cup. FIFA's official records are the primary source, backed by credible media. There is one important edge case: if a player is announced in the starting lineup but gets injured in the warmup and is replaced before the game starts, that counts as No. Also, if the World Cup is cancelled or delayed past June 29, 2026, all markets resolve No regardless of anything else. None of the provided news headlines relate to France, the 2026 World Cup, or any of the three players listed. There is no relevant recent news to point to here. The kinds of developments worth watching would be injury reports for these players in the weeks leading up to the tournament, or any major squad selection news from France's national team manager. These three players are priced at 98–99%, so the market is heavily one-sided — it sees them as near-certain starters. The real uncertainty is not a genuine two-sided debate; it is simply the small but real chance that something unexpected disrupts a near-certainty. A serious injury before or during warmup, a sudden illness, a disciplinary issue, or even a late tactical surprise from the coach are all low-probability but possible. The specific rule about warmup substitutions is the kind of edge case worth knowing, because it has happened in major tournaments before.

How this resolves
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed player takes the field as a member of France's official starting lineup for the first group stage game the nation plays at 2026 FIFA World Cup. Otherwise, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If a player is officially announced as part of the starting lineup but is replaced before the game begins for any reason, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". Only players that are on the pitch at kick off will be counted toward a "Yes" resolution. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after June 29, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or the listed player cannot be confirmed as a part of France's official 1st match starting lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup within that timeframe, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be information from FIFA (https://www.fifa.com/), however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
