World Cup: Player to be in Portugal's Starting 11
What you need to know
This market asks whether each named player — João Neves, Vitinha, and Rúben Dias — will actually be on the pitch when Portugal kicks off their first game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A Yes means that specific player starts the match and is physically playing at kick-off. A No means they didn't start, whether because of injury, tactical choice, suspension, or any last-minute change before the whistle blows. Each player's market settles as Yes only if they are on the field at the exact moment Portugal's first group game begins. Being named in the starting lineup is not enough — if a player is listed to start but gets injured during warm-up and replaced before kick-off, that still resolves No. The deadline is June 29, 2026. If the World Cup is cancelled or postponed past that date, everything resolves No. FIFA's official records are the primary source. No recent news was provided that is directly relevant to Portugal's squad or these specific players. The one World Cup-adjacent headline involves a controversy at a different match entirely. To follow this market, the developments worth watching are Portugal's squad announcement, any injury news for these three players in the weeks before the tournament, and the confirmed schedule for Portugal's opening game. At 99%, the market is treating a Yes outcome as nearly certain for all three players — and for good reason, as all three are established starters for Portugal. The remaining 1% is essentially the small but real chance that something unexpected happens: a sudden injury, illness, disciplinary issue, or tactical surprise in the days or hours before kick-off. The strict rule — that even a warm-up injury before kick-off counts as No — is the most surprising edge case and the main thing keeping this from 100%.

How this resolves
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed player takes the field as a member of Portugal's official starting lineup for the first group stage game the nation plays at 2026 FIFA World Cup. Otherwise, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If a player is officially announced as part of the starting lineup but is replaced before the game begins for any reason, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". Only players that are on the pitch at kick off will be counted toward a "Yes" resolution. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after June 29, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or the listed player cannot be confirmed as a part of Portugal's official 1st match starting lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup within that timeframe, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be information from FIFA (https://www.fifa.com/), however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
