World Cup: South Korea Stage of Elimination

What you need to know

This market is asking: how far will South Korea go in the 2026 FIFA World Cup before they get knocked out? The 2026 World Cup has an expanded format with 48 teams, so there are more rounds than before — starting with a group stage (called the Round of 32 here), then the Round of 16, then Quarterfinals, and beyond. A 'Round of 32' result means South Korea exits in the very first knockout round, having failed to advance past the group stage into the later rounds. The market settles on whichever round South Korea is officially eliminated from — based on FIFA's records or credible sports reporting. If South Korea wins the whole tournament, it resolves as 'Champion.' There are two notable edge cases: if South Korea is disqualified or the tournament ends early for any reason, the market uses the furthest round South Korea actually completed. If the entire World Cup is cancelled or postponed past August 2, 2026, it resolves as 'Other' — meaning no stage outcome at all. None of the provided news headlines are relevant to South Korea's World Cup prospects or squad. There's nothing here about their matches, form, or draw. The kind of news that would matter includes their group-stage results, injury updates to key players, or who they face in the knockout rounds once the tournament begins. The 2026 World Cup uses a new 48-team format, which makes historical comparisons harder — South Korea's path and group opponents are a big variable. The market currently prices a group-stage exit at 48%, advancing to the Round of 16 at 36%, and reaching the Quarterfinals at 6%. South Korea has historically been unpredictable at World Cups — they reached the semifinals in 2002 but have often exited early since. Squad form, the draw, and even luck in tight matches all matter enormously and are hard to forecast in advance.
