Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed team is determined as the champion of the CBA. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to be named as the champion of CBA per the rules of CBA (e.g., participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If multiple teams are declared winners, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically. If this event is cancelled, postponed after December 12, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or a champion has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source will be official information from the CBA; however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Shanghai Dongfang are the heaviest-backed team to win the CBA Championship in current prediction market trading, with Beijing Ducks and Shenzhen Leopards also drawing significant support. The market spans 22 teams, with volume concentrated on a small cluster of contenders rather than distributed evenly across the field. Resolution is based on the official CBA champion declaration, with a deadline of 12 December 2026.
Market structure
The market covers all 22 CBA franchises, with trading volume heavily concentrated on a small group of contenders. Shanghai Dongfang are the heaviest-backed outcome, followed by Beijing Ducks and Shenzhen Leopards, with Zhejiang Guangsha Lions also attracting meaningful support. Resolution requires an official CBA champion declaration by 12 December 2026. If no champion is declared or the season is cancelled or postponed beyond that deadline, the market resolves to 'Other'.
Background
The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) is the premier professional basketball league in China, contested annually by franchises drawn from cities and provinces across the country. The league operates a regular season followed by a playoff series, culminating in a Finals to crown the champion. Historically, a small number of franchises have dominated — including the Beijing Ducks, Xinjiang Flying Tigers, and Guangdong Southern Tigers — though the competitive landscape has evolved with investment and player recruitment cycles. The CBA also serves as the primary competitive stage for Chinese national team players, giving the championship broader significance beyond domestic competition. Shanghai Dongfang have attracted the strongest market interest heading into the current cycle, reflecting their recent squad development and performance trajectory.
Key factors
Several structural factors can influence which team ultimately claims the CBA title. Squad depth and injury management across a long season are critical, as teams that rotate effectively tend to sustain form into the playoffs. The import player system — which allows each team a limited number of foreign-born players — means that the availability and performance of overseas signings can significantly shift a team's ceiling. Coaching continuity and in-season tactical adjustments also play a role, particularly in playoff series where opponents can prepare specifically for a team's style. Home court advantage, determined by regular season seeding, may favour higher-placed teams in early playoff rounds. Additionally, any regulatory changes to the import player quota, schedule disruptions, or disciplinary proceedings involving key players could alter the competitive balance between leading contenders before the December 2026 resolution deadline.
FAQ
How is the CBA Winner market resolved?
The market resolves to 'Yes' for the team officially declared CBA champion, based on official CBA communications or a consensus of credible reporting. If a team is eliminated at any point, its market resolves immediately to 'No'. If multiple teams are declared winners, the team whose name comes first alphabetically is favoured.
When does the CBA Winner market resolve?
The market resolves when an official CBA champion is declared, with a hard deadline of 12 December 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. If the season is cancelled or postponed beyond that date without a champion being named, the market resolves to 'Other' rather than 'Yes' or 'No'.
What happens if the CBA season is cancelled or no champion is declared in time?
If the CBA season is cancelled, or if a champion has not been declared by 12 December 2026 at 11:59 PM ET due to postponement or any other reason, the market resolves to 'Other'. This outcome does not resolve any individual team's contract to 'Yes'.
