Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve according to the team that finishes 1st at the 2026 Major League Pickleball St. Petersburg tournament scheduled for June 17, 2026 through June 21, 2026. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed team to win the competition per the rules of MLP (e.g., they are eliminated in the playoffs), the corresponding market will resolve to “No”. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by MLP rules. If multiple winners are announced then this market will resolve to the team whose listed nickname comes first alphabetically. If the 2026 Major League Pickleball St. Petersburg tournament is canceled or not completed by July 5, 2026, this market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Pickleball (https://www.majorleaguepickleball.co). A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Market structure
Fifteen outcomes are listed, with volume distributed broadly across the full field — a notably flat distribution suggesting the market treats this as genuinely open. Resolution is determined by the official finishing position at the MLP St. Petersburg tournament. The primary resolution source is Major League Pickleball's official communications. If the tournament is cancelled or not completed by 5 July 2026, the market resolves to 'Other'. Eliminated teams resolve to 'No' immediately upon elimination.
Background
Major League Pickleball is the premier team-based professional pickleball league in the United States, featuring franchise clubs competing in a structured tournament format across multiple events per season. St. Petersburg, Florida has become an established stop on the MLP calendar, reflecting pickleball's rapid growth in the Sun Belt region. The 2026 season continues the league's expansion as the sport accelerates its transition from recreational pastime to mainstream professional competition. MLP events typically combine round-robin group play with knockout playoff rounds, meaning early results heavily influence which teams remain in contention. The broad spread of trading across the 15-team field reflects the competitive parity the league has cultivated, where roster construction and in-tournament form can shift outcomes significantly.
Key factors
Tournament format is a key structural variable: MLP's mixed-team format, where each match comprises multiple disciplines including singles and doubles, means no single player's performance determines outcomes. Roster composition and team chemistry across disciplines can create asymmetries that are difficult to price in advance. Home-crowd dynamics in St. Petersburg may favour Florida-based franchises, though MLP venues attract neutral audiences. Player injuries or late roster changes between now and the June 17 start date could materially shift competitive balance. The bracket draw — determining which teams face each other in early rounds — introduces path-dependency, as favourable or difficult early matchups can affect team momentum into the knockout stages. Weather and scheduling disruptions at outdoor or partially outdoor venues are a contingency the 'Other' resolution clause is designed to address.
