Resolution Criteria

This market will resolve according to the team that is declared as the AFC North division champion for the 2026 NFL regular season. If multiple teams tie atop the division, this market will resolve according to the official tiebreak procedure of the NFL. If the 2026 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 17, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared for this division within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

The Baltimore Ravens are the heaviest-backed team to win the AFC North division title in the 2026 NFL regular season, according to current prediction market trading. The market is concentrated on two main contenders — the Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals — with the Pittsburgh Steelers representing a secondary presence. Resolution is based on official NFL standings at the end of the 2026 regular season, with a deadline of 4 January 2027.

Market structure

The market covers five outcomes across the four AFC North franchises plus an 'Other' fallback. Volume is heavily concentrated on two teams, with the Ravens the single heaviest-backed outcome and the Bengals close behind, forming a two-horse race. The Steelers attract a smaller but notable share. The Browns and the 'Other' contingency account for minimal trading activity. Resolution follows official NFL standings, with tiebreakers applied per NFL procedure.

Background

The AFC North has been one of the NFL's most fiercely contested divisions over the past decade, regularly producing multiple playoff-calibre teams in the same conference grouping. The Baltimore Ravens won the AFC North in the 2023 season and have remained a consistent championship-level organisation under head coach John Harbaugh. The Cincinnati Bengals, who reached the Super Bowl in the 2021 season, have established themselves as a genuine annual contender. The Pittsburgh Steelers, historically the division's most decorated franchise, remain competitive despite a prolonged transition at the quarterback position. The Cleveland Browns have faced significant roster and injury disruption in recent seasons, contributing to their low standing in current market estimates.

Key factors

Quarterback health is the single most consequential variable across this division. Each of the four franchises has faced meaningful questions about starter availability, and any significant injury during the 2026 campaign could substantially redistribute divisional standing. The Bengals' trajectory is closely tied to the continued availability and form of their offensive core, while the Ravens' competitiveness depends on their dual-threat offensive system functioning at full capacity. The Steelers' position reflects ongoing uncertainty around their post-Ben Roethlisberger quarterback situation; a resolution to that question in either direction would carry significant implications for their divisional ceiling. Schedule strength and divisional head-to-head results are structurally decisive in tight finishes, given that NFL tiebreak procedures prioritise intra-divisional record. The 'Other' outcome becomes relevant only if the season is cancelled or disrupted beyond the January 2027 window, which current circumstances do not indicate.

FAQ

How is the AFC North Champion market resolved?

The market resolves to whichever team holds the AFC North division title at the conclusion of the 2026 NFL regular season, per official NFL standings. If teams finish level at the top, the NFL's official tiebreak procedure determines the winner. The primary source is official NFL information, supplemented by credible reporting consensus.

When does the AFC North Champion market resolve?

The resolution deadline is 4 January 2027, covering the end of the 2026 NFL regular season. The regular season typically concludes in early January, so results are expected to be confirmed before that deadline under normal scheduling conditions.

If the 2026 NFL regular season is cancelled, or concludes after 11:59 PM ET on 17 January 2027 without a declared divisional winner, the market resolves to 'Other'. This outcome also applies if no winner is formally declared within the specified timeframe for any other reason.

What does the AFC North Champion market currently show?
